Mark 7 rip fence

Post by lewparsell »

I have a Mark 7 that is 3 years old. My question is how far down should I be pushing the rip fence levers to lock it down. Should I be pressing them all the way down so that the flat is against the fence. Or just far enough for then to tighten up. I know it can be adjusted I'm just not sure which position I should be adjusting to.

The lever actually has an over center feel to it when properly adjusted. It should not be pointing down to the floor. it should be about half way from horizontal and pointing straight down to the floor. It needs to be lubricated occasionally with a dry lubricant. I use a spray lube. If you don't do that it gets very "sticky" and makes the proper adjustment hard to obtain. It should push down smoothly and then kind of go over center and stop. Lube is the key to proper adjustment. This is for the front lever. The back lever is kind of the same but if you lube the mechanism I think the proper adjustment is easy to feel.
