Wiring Problem on a 1956 SS , Need Help

I recently purchased a 1956 greenie in great shape. The problem is that the guy I bought it from received it from his father who is now deceased. His father had rewired the SS to run on 220 and now I am trying to covert it back to 110. It does not appear that he installed any new wiring in the SS he some how used the existing wiring and redirected it to the on / off switch.
It still has the original plug assembly and he had actually coverted the plug in his house to look like a regular plug socket so he didn't have to use a 220 plug. I cant find any schematitics to the wiring and I shooting in the dark to fix it. I have a total of 6 wires 2 white 1 black 1 blue and two appear to be gray. Any sugestions on where I can go to get a look at how the wiring should be, or schematic from the original wiring?

Look to see if two of the wires are connected to each other and NOT to any thing else.
If you have an ohmmeter or continuity checker, you can check for the winding pairs. Are two of the six wires connected to the capacitor? Check continuity between pairs of the other four.when low resistance is measured between two wires, that indicates those two wires are connected to one winding. The second pair should be identical.
Determining color on 50 year old wires can be misleading. They fade(as well as get brittle if rubber insulation).
Assuming the 5th & 6th wire DO go to the capacitor, AND You HAVE determined the two windings, you can connect the two windings in parallel and TRY[briefly] to start it(115v). IF it runs all is well. If it just hums, reverse the connection of one pair. If you did find two wires that were originally connected only to each other, each of those should be connected to the other wire of the opposite pair.
I realize this is somewhat confusing. If you can sketch how it is originally connected, we might be able to be more clearer.

L1 black through switch to another black wire
L2 white through swith to a green wire
blue and white are tied together
We are trying to convert this from 220 to 110.
