Only watched the final segment with the Shopsmith so far. Nick Cupps did a decent job showing the machine. He could be a little smoother in changing over to the table saw mode but his story of buying the company is good for the product image. I like seeing the entire setup with the dust collector too.

The other guy in the video commented on the height of the table being better than the typical table saw. Some people have seen the table height as a problem but I usually find it and advantage. My Sawsmith 2000 is mounted on a rolling dolly that takes the height up to the same level as my 510 which I keep right behind to serve as an outfeed table. Extra table height puts things closer to eye level making alignment of work easier, and it's also a better position for my arms and hands at my height.

I saw this accessory near the beginning of the video. I haven't determined if it is a miter gauge extension or a sled that mounts to the miter gauge, but it has some unique features either way.

I liked the Shopsmith branding irons the Gearheart guy had. And echoing Ed's comment, Nick's changeover was a little inelegant, especially if you note the continuity error with the dust collection hose (showing that it wasn't filmed in one take). Still, getting the name out there again it great! I like Nick's enthusiasm. As has been noted here before, one of the more common reactions I get if I talk about Shopsmith to many other woodworkers is "Oh, they're still around? I had no idea...."

I don't like that new "corporate slogan" at all. I really don't.

Resorting to profanity to get attention belongs in a locker room not on a tee shirt. Shows quite a lack of imagination.

What sort of corporate decisions can we next expect?

Of course I have no insider information so this is all conjecture on my part but it would not surprise me at all if this was 1. a one-off for the trade show, and B. a way to try to get across that "this isn't your grandfather's Shopsmith". I wouldn't too much thought into it (yet... unless it starts showing up more).

IMHO HopefulSSer has it right. It makes a bold statement that this is not longer your father/grandfather's woodworking tool. This may not be an official Shopsmith slogan either, I don't know if we can order that shirt, but I'd like to have one. I do hope Shopsmith will work with internet marketing specialists to determine if they want the slogan to be part of their image but at least for the short term it's a good way to make some noise and get attention.
