Ok. I was ripping a Douglas Fir 2x4 today and the SS motor was getting dogged down. I suspect it was the combination of the hard knot areas, resin on the blade and perhaps a dull combo blade it came with it.

Anyways, so I thought I'd run to the store to get a set of blades. Well, that didnt' turn out so good because the arbor that came with the SS requires a larger hole than ALL the blades they sell at Home Depot. So I couldn't get a new blade today. Bummer...

I guess I need those 5/8" arbors that they sell at SS, it specifically says not for use with Dado Blades. Also, the Dado Accessories Link is broken on the Arbor Webpage at SS. Are 5/8" Arbors available for Dado Blades on the SS? And, what should I clean the resin off the blade with? Also are the 5/8" Arbors for a 500 really different than the ones for 510 like suggested at SS?

Thanks all!

You can use oven cleaner to clean the blade. Works really well. Others have used simple green.

The 5/8" SAW arbors are different for 500 and models having a larger table. The saw slot is further out than on the 500. The arbors are different lengths.

What actually happens if I attempt to use a 500 arbor on a 510/510?

Other than the fact that the saw blade will not line up with the slot in the table, is there a problem? Can I obtain that alignment by either moving the table or extending the quill?

Dusty,

The way I understand it is you can do what you say, as long as you DO KNOT use the guards. In order to use the guards (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) you must use the right arbor.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
