I just purchased a Mark V 510 . Its an older model and the work surfaces on the saw table and extension tables have black spots. I've tried every cleaner I can think of but they dont come out. Any suggestions?

You might want to post some pictures of what you’re seeing to allow for better suggestions from the group. If it’s cosmetic, you may be able to get some improvement with some finer steel wool and aluminum wheel cleaner. If the spots are impacting functionality, you may have to use a more aggressive abrasive.

I restore a lot of the oldest Shopsmith machines, and even after extensive buffing and polishing, sometimes I just have to live with those stains. This is from an early Shopsmith Model 10E - still shows a vivid pattern of the original surfacing machining, but I could never get those stains out!
