Shopsmith bowl turning set

Anyone own this set?
Is it well made?
How long are the bowl gouges?

All I know about them is that Rick Davis recommended them.
With the sale, I am thinking about that set and the pen turning set. Would like info on them also.

I have the set and they seem very well made. I just haven't used them yet. Including the handle the gouges are 23" long.

I also have this set which I bought at a TA a couple of years ago. They are a very good set of chisels and I use them whenever I do any bowl turning. The price right now is excellent. Also they are HSS which is a plus.

I have them too, I really like the scraper for getting smoother edges inside a good size bowl. The gouges are very long compared to most SS turning tools. The flutes channel out a lot of wood when kept sharp. The Flat scaper works really well if you keep it straight on the end. covers a lot of surface at one time for straight scrape.

I have the set as well. They are made of Sheffield Steel. I really like them.

NO!............Some are high carbon steel. They do not hold an edge as well.

OK,
I'll jump in also I bought the set on this sale. They will need a sharpening but they are very good quality and for the price they can't be beat. Now if only they would put the speed reducer on sale and not on back order I would get one.
