I have started a Facebook Group called Shopsmith Museum. I have no answers to any questions about it. My vision is for there to be a museum that has every machine and accessory ever made with the Shopsmith name on it. Members of the group will make decisions on all of the details. If you want to be part of the discussion, just be willing to donate something and state what it might be. I know Shopsmith has some machines like the 10-ER, Mark VII, and a few others in Dayton but 90% of the items they no longer have. Join Shopsmith Museum Facebook Group.

I would hope that SS would support this in Dayton. I have three one of a kind items I would like to see permanently preserved at some point. However, I don't do FaceBook so I guess I am out of it.

It sounds like you are wanting to start a physical location Shopsmith Museum as opposed to a virtual one. Although it would be nice to have Shopsmith tools preserved a physical location would limit who could visit it. Having to travel to see it may be out of "reach" for some. If it was near you that's over 1600 miles away from me. A virtual Museum, although not as good as seeing these tools in person, would allow more people to have access to it.
Like John, I have some rare Shopsmith accessories I would like to see preserved by someone who knows just how special they are. It would also be nice to see one of my Model 10E Shopsmith's from the original 250 made that started it all be preserved in a museum setting. It would look great sitting with the original Owner's Manual John has. The list below only shows part of the Shopsmith tools and accessories I have.
Like John, I do not do Facebook either.

Also not doing FB. I don't have anything all that rare but perfectly willing to donate anything I have. I'm not saying I'd pay a high shipping cost to some remote location though, but still don't think I have anything that needs to be in a museum unless you have a Frankensmith wing.

I have the same hope for Shopsmith in Dayton but this is not going to be anywhere on their list for several years. They have limited space and many other priorities now. Many of those on this forum are most likely like you and I and will donate. However, Facebook is used more and reaches more people. It lends itself better to collaboration than this forum. I welcome your involvement through this forum as well. You just will not know the other people's views.

Perfect is the enemy of good. None of us know if we will still be here tomorrow. Kick the bucket and all those dreams die with you. Your stuff will just be given away, sold cheap, or thrown away. Your relatives will likely not feel like you do about this equipment.
