Hi everyone.
Just bought a SS bandsaw with cast iron table, age unknown. It's grey and in very nice condition. Paid $80 for it, pretty happy. Came with a power stand and motor.

In cleaning it up and adjusting according to the owners manual, I find it is missing one small part - the so-called "table leveling latch", which is apparently a small steel bar that is bolted across the slot in table from below. It keeps the table from flexing across the slot.

SS does not seem to sell them (I searched) unless they're calling it something different than the manual.

At any rate, could someone take a picture of the thing and post it here? I could fabricate one if I knew what it was supposed to look like.

PS I don't know why the images are sideways. They are saved vertically on my computer.

EDIT Spelling. Also, does anyone know how to rotate the images correctly?

I don't have one to photograph but it's just a flat steel bar with one hole and one slot. The slot is so that you can just slacken the screws and swing it out of the way without having to fully remove either screw.

Your picture is fine if you want to make one. I can get you exact dimensions later on if you want to go that route. Since they don't make that table anymore they probably don't carry the part.

As JPG said, a little differently though, you got a great deal.

Below is a picture of the Table Leveling Latch or simply Latch as it is referred to in some parts lists. It is the size of the space in the Table Casting where it screws into.

As you can see it is pretty much as shown in the drawing HopefulSSer made. The Cast Iron Table was replaced by the Aluminum Table In, I believe, 1992. Shopsmith discontinued making replacement parts for the Cast Iron Table in favor of the Aluminum Table. A common practice by Shopsmith for discontinued assemblies. Another example is they no longer make the parts specific to the original AKA 500 or the 510/505 Mark 5/V Table Systems.

Looking at the current drawing and parts lists there are differences between your Shopsmith Bandsaw and the current Shopsmith Bandsaw. Besides the Table change the cover is improved with dust collection and easier adjusting the blade tension without removing the cover. The Trunnions and bolts to mount it to the Main Frame changed but the Trunnion bole spacing for Table mounting is the same. There are some other changes too.

Do know that if you would like to change to the Aluminum Table it is a simple upgrade by removing the 4 bolts that hold the Cast Iron Table to the Trunnions and bolting the Aluminum Table in its place. Then align the Table to the Blade as you would for the Cast Iron Table. Changes made to the Bandsaw since its introduction in 1955 can be added to any era Magna/Shopsmith Bandsaw made.

Your Bandsaw was made sometime between 1973 and 1992. The serial number would help give a closer time to when it was made.

That 'spacer' is steel and about 1/8" thick.
