Gen 2 occasionally trips the breaker during start-up (as it goes through warnings on the screen), but not while the motor is running. It is wired for 220. It does not have this problem if on 110 AMP. I switched back to 110 to see if it would do this while on 110 AMP. It has been back to Shopsmith; it worked fine for them. I have double-checked the wiring. I’m just curious if anyone else has had this issue.

Can you describe the breaker, starting with how many amps it is rated for? Many 'newer' CBs include Ground Fault Interruption and/or Arc Fault Detection in addition to the traditional current overload protection. Therefore, more possible causes of a circuit breaker tripping. Is anything else connected to the same circuit?

Mine remains Gen 1. One of the differences in Gen 2 is the addition of a fuse, which evidently is not blowing in your case. Does Shopsmith recommend the same fuse (amps) regardless of operating voltage? How many amps? (I run mine on 230V, and I don't think there is a significant difference between Gen 1 and 2 in terms of amps during startup, I've never had an issue and wouldn't have thought it likely.)

Did Shopsmith say if they did any special testing? Plugging the machine into a different 230V circuit and trying it out is not very rigorous testing...
