Hello everyone,
I have read several posts reading up on this ss that I had purchased at auction. And not for a bad price with everything that came with it but feel it is also missing some things that would need replaced. But alas the serial number I have looked it up and appears to be made in 1985 it has 1-1/8 hp motor. But what I don't know is if it's a plain Jane mark v or 500...510

Post a picture of the whole machine including main table etc.

Mark V-B Serial number SS 196393 was made in January 1985. In 1985 the Mark V 510 (and 505) were introduced. With the new models the original Table System Mark V became the Mark V 500. It is the Table system that defines which model it is. Yours would have started out as a Mark V with the original Table System but may have been upgraded. That is the reason JPG asked for pictures to determine which model yours is now. Below are pictures of how the different models look.

The Mark V 510 with the larger Table system beginning in 1985. The fence rails are round tubes and the first year the mounting of the tubes was different.

The Mark V 505 the same as the Mark V 510 but without the Floating Tables.

The Mark V 520 which came out in 1999. It has the same Tables as the 510 but with the Pro Fence having a wider fence and extruded aluminum rails.

This may help you identify which model your Mark V is currently. Sorry the pictures are kind of small. They are Shopsmith website pictures.

Pictures of what you have for your Mark V would also help us identify what you may be missing for the basic functions. There are a lot of additional accessories available to add more functions to your Shopsmith Mark V.

So looks like mine is the 500 as to the fact I don't have what appears to be a floating table lol and I may be missing some parts overall

Okay here is the overall picture of main unit and then the accessories that came with it I also have the manuals and what appears to be the full self study course with companion book

I rotated your pictures for easier viewing and identification of what you have.

I see a bandsaw, jointer, jig saw, belt sander, wide extension table, and shaper fence, in addition to the main unit. Looks like quite a nice haul. Though, it is a bit like the scarecrow and pieces are here and there. Will be hard to know what is "missing" until it is all sorted out and re-assembled.

As br549 said it will be hard to tell what is missing and what is still boxed. I see the Miter in a box in picture 1. The Mark V itself is mostly set up for lathe work in the picture. The Cushman brand (original for your era Mark V) Drill Chuck is on the spindle as opposed to the Lathe Drive. I cannot tell if the Tailstock has a center currently in it. Below are pictures of the Lathe Drives, Lathe Dead Centers and Lathe Live Centers. In each case there are 3 versions going back to the original ones through the current ones. Not much has changed for them over the years. Something to be on the lookout for as you go through the parts.

In each picture the version on the right is the more recent version. The Lathe Drive and the Dead Center come with the Mark V and the Live Center is optional. The Live Centers picture also includes the extension part making the overall length of the center an 1-1/2" longer.

The Jointer and Bandsaw look pretty complete as far as I can tell from picture 2. One odd item I see in the second picture is next to the Jointer and is the table for the Belt Sander which is not pictured. The Jig Saw is missing a Mounting Post. Hopefully it is in a box. The Jig Saw may have a problem with the Upper Bracket Assembly. The square tube and Chuck are hanging low in the Assembly but should be held up inside it by the spring. It may be the Roll Pin at the top end of the Square Tube is broken or missing. Below is a restored 1957 Jig Saw which is why the paint colors are different. Notice the Square Tube (no longer visible) and Chuck are held up inside the Upper Bracket Assembly's tube.

The Jointer and Bandsaw are still being made and current parts can be used to replace old ones as needed. Upgrades can also be added to the Jointer and Bandsaw. Some may be able to be replaced as individual parts while others may have to be replaced as sub-assemblies. The Jig Saw has been out of production for many years and replacement parts must be found on the used market.

Something I do not see are any Manuals. Hopefully they came with the Mark V and the included SPT's. If not, we can guide you to some that are PDF versions and are free.

The belt sander is 'behind' the band saw.

Yeah I just piled it all together would like to service the head unit before I start anything serious I am missing quite a few things as in example don't have anything to operate the lathe dead centers or drives the jigsaw was on the unit when I picked it up from the looks of it the planer belt sander and the band saw are complete and in tact. Idk if it's necessary but I don't have a handle to make it easier to extend the quill also I do not have the table saw attachment. And also cosmetics is concerned am missing the medallion that covers the access hole on the back of the head unit.

I do have the manuals is the only thing not pictured
