Retainer Loop of Control Sheave?

I have an old machine and not quite such what model it is. I'm guessing a Mark V 500 that I bought around 1980 -81. Anyhow, The headstock started making a squealing noise when I shifted to low speed. Now that I took it apart to replace the bearing (which was shot) my retainer loop is different from what I found online, both @ Shopsmith and Ebay. My retainer (which looks and is bent) has the spring "roller" coil at a 90 degree leg - not opposite the loop opening. If this loop is supposed to engage with the inside of a roll pin, there was no roll pin found inside the motor compartment. (See Pictures) The drilled hole through the button is .140 diameter which would allow a 1/8" roll pin to float and rotate inside the hole. The loop material is .0625 diameter. There is also a smaller loop with a smaller roller coil that is severely bent(I think). This was found down next to the motor assembly. This material is .042 diameter. Comparing what I have seen as an assembled bearing with the retainer loop (pic) to what I have, is much different. The smaller loop is a total mystery.
Has anyone seen something like what I have here? I have no manuals as to the correct part numbers or proper assembly.
