Mark, that is certainly a Grand Central (storage) station for your pen making items. :)

Hi Mark! Your pen station is nifty!:D It not only gives an organization idea to pen turners, but this type of table may be applicable to other operations requiring special handling.

Because I'm not a pen making guy (yet) I must ask - What are the colored strips you have hanging from clothes pins?

Chuck

Those strips on the clothes pins are actually sand paper from 150 to 600 grit colored from the last 2 pens that I turned. One was red heart and the other yellow heart.;)

Mark

PS Oh yes there is a Padauk pen on the lathe also. It is reddish brown.

Mark,

that's a nice setup.

it looks like you made the back of the pen storage system stick down lower than the bottom of the box and then used a spring clamp to hold it onto the extension table. if so, does the vibration from the lathe slowly shake the clamp loose?

what length did you cut the tubes down to for this shorty/mini?

Good eye on the spring clamps and vibration is not a problem at all. For the tube lengths check out this thread. https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?t=3609

Mark,

I noticed the spring clips because mine never seem to work out for me. they seem to either fall off or make the glue joint slip when I'm not looking.

thanks for the thread pointer. I read it when it was first posted and admired your work. I just didn't figure out how to go back and find the right thread.
