What’s the actual rpm of the shopsmith motor?

What’s the difference between the greenie head stock and the regular grey
Mark V 500 headstock? I know some have 7/8 hp, and some have 1-1/8 hp motors.
What other differences are thre?

Something slightly less than synchronous speed of 3600 rpm. Load variation will change it. 3450 rpm at rated load(hp) is likely close.

JPG gave the correct RPM information for the Mark series motors. Something to note is that the Mark 5 Greenies and the early Mark 5 Goldies had 3/4 HP motors not 7/8 HP. The change to the 1-1/8 HP Motor occurred between March and April in 1961. The change to the Poly V drive from the Gilmer Drive occurred shortly after the motor change. Of note the last of the Gilmer Drive Headstocks with the 3/4 HP Motors and the first 1-1/8 HP Motors had a modified Gilmer Drive Sleeve Assembly and Quill. JPG's Goldie came with a 1-18 HP Motor and the Poly V Drive.

Another variation is my 1962 Mark 5 Goldie with a 240v motor and a hp rating of 1 hp.

Sorry JPG, I misspoke. I didn't know you have a 240V motor version. I'm still learning things which is great. :)

Thee did not misspeak. That motor was and is an anomaly.
