Three of the four pens I turned this morning while waiting for paint to dry.

Great looking pens, Mark! Nice job! What kind of finish did you use?

Mark, nice looking pens. I turned an Ebony wood pen the other day, out of curiosity... Is Ebony and Blackwood the same? Boy, mine turned out almost like a piano finish, very striking. Here's a Bethleham Olivewood pen I turned the other day too.

Very cool. I need to invest in some chisels. SS is nice enough to give you the block of wood, but you have to buy the chisels.. :(

George I have been experimenting with different finishes on my pens. These three have 6 coats of lacquer sprayed on while turning at low speed. I cant handle the fumes when finishing with CA glue, so I am trying to come up with something harder than Huts polish with a good feel. These came out pretty nice.

Tom nice pen you have and a good looking finish. Blackwood and Ebony are not the same wood. Blackwood is not as dark or as black as Ebony.
