Realizing that the Mark series are Shopsmith's bread and butter, I have to say that the smartest purchase I made was back in 1999 when I purchased a Sawsmith 2000...for those who need a good cabinet saw that can do both regular sawing and the "upside down radial arm saw" function that eliminates the need for a second saw, mine has been a godsend. I realize that the Sawsmith is out of production, but in my opinion, it was a mistake to discontinue it. I know that there are lots of accessories and small parts that are interchangeable, which I have used in the past. It would be nice if there were at least sources for other replacement parts listed so we can keep our Sawsmith's running for many more years.

Take good care of the motor and tilt clamp.

The Sawsmith 2000 Table Saw is unfortunately a tool I do not have. I would gladly give up my Craftsman Table Saw for one. Although to be honest I haven't used it in many years. My Mark 7 can handle most of my Table Saw needs better with the expandable Table System. I can even use extra Floating Tables for infeed and/or outfeed Tables.

I like the features I see in the Sawsmith 2000 including the different Table/Fence combinations. With the movable carriage it can do some Radial Saw cuts and probably safer than a Radial Arm Saw.

Unless there was a large enough demand, I don't see Shopsmith bringing it back.

As JPG said do take care of yours. I have seen 3D printed parts made for the Sawsmith 2000 to replace those clamp/lock parts. Other than that, you are stuck getting used replacement parts.

For anyone who owns a SAWSMITH 2000, you know spare/replacement parts are hard to get. I have a standard MODEL (555530) I've owned for over 25 years (and I got it from my father-in-law when he closed up his cabinet shop.)

Anyway, I used to run a 3D CAD design business, so recreating some of the hard to find parts and then printing them in PETG plastic (strong like ABS and also UV resistant) on my 3D printer has been very useful.

I thought I'd share some of the parts I have replaced so that if any of you SAWSMITH owners need a resource, I might be of help. I've added images of the parts I've developed and can 3D print for you. I have had the parts on my SAWSMITH for many years now and all are working fine. I've sold dozens of these parts over the years with no warranty returns to date. If you are interested, send me a note.

Chad's 3D printer parts may well have been the ones I have seen for sale before. Necessity truly is the mother of invention. Thanks to parts like Chad is making more Shopsmith tools can continue to function.
