Does anyone have the instruction sheet for the Shopsmith sharpening guide? I purchased one on Ebay but it didn't come with the instruction sheet.
Thanks in advance!

The only copy I have is the printed one that came with my Sharpening Guide 555193. Unfortunately, it is not one of the Manuals or instruction sheets available here on the Shopsmith website for purchase or free PDF download. It would take me some time to copy it to a PDF since I have a new printer and haven't really done that on it yet. It would likely end up being too large of a file to post here. My copy of the instructions (PL-5108 5/86) is 8 pages with an additional 5 pages taken from Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone book and a drilling template for attaching the Guide to the Extension Table.
There is that section in the 4th Edition of Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone that covers Sharpening tools including the Lathe Chisels using the Sharpening Guide. It is not in earlier editions of the book.
The Angle Adjustment on the Sharpening Guide is to change the Chisels to do more of a shearing going to the left or more of a scraping going to the right. If I remember it correctly Chisels come at 0 from the factory. Use caution not to overheat the Chisels during sharpening.
The picture of the Guide below is labeled for the different spots to sharpen the different Chisels. The Gouges are "rolled" back and forth against the Sanding paper to get it sharp edge to edge. The Skew is set into the slot against each of the sides to sharpen both surfaces. Sharpen both surfaces evenly. The Parting Tool is sharpened by laying it in the slot to do one face then turning it over to do the other face. Again, sharpen both surfaces evenly. The Roundnose is clamped into the holder and moved back and forth to sharpen. Sharpening the Roundnose Chisel does change the factory angle but the new angle is preferred.
