Wheel raise mechanism camshaft repair

Just took ownership of a 2001 mark v 520 and am sprucing it up/familiarizing myself with it. The previous owner has noted that the (for lack of a better word) camshaft that raises and lowers the caster wheels would regularly become dislodged from its socket holes due to the flimsiness of the legs. On closer inspection I found that on each side one of the screws was missing that holds this shaft in place. Off to the hardware store I go. I come back and install 4 new screws with permanent thread lock because these screws shouldn’t need to be going anywhere. After an appropriate amount of time I step on the raising mechanism and I’m surprised to see the shaft slip out once again. On closer inspection the head of the screw had busted off inside the shaft.

Any advice?

For reference, this is the screw that busted off inside the “camshaft”
