Great progress this week in spite of 103 degree heat index.

The Saw Dust Generator was put to the test, the binding channel is cut and the rough carve of the top is done.

The control cavity for the backloaded electronics is cut, wire paths are drilled.

The router jig for the truss rod is refit to a router that actually works , the truss rod is routed and set in place, and the neck is profiled.

I usually quit working in the shop/garage at around 95.

My shop is very small,:mad: 8X16... But I do have AC:D

I was in the shop until after 10 last night.

Hi Mike, Doug.

I have a Haier 12,000 BTU portable AC but it doesn'r keep up. I've been venting it out the bottom of the garage door and that lets in more heat than the AC can get rid of. I plan to vent it thru the wall this week and insulate the garage door. It should help alot. Until then, I can at least walk over to it and superchill my sweat...feels soooo good!

Updates:

It's been a long time coming but I have an update on my Tele project...actually it's a sizable one. Lots of new pics and some really good progress.

I have finished the routing on the body with the completion of the control cover cavity and the cover itself.

I finished up the heavy carving and all that is left is scraping and sanding to final shape.

Much progress on the neck. The truss rod is complete, the fretboard is planed, cut and slotted, and the whole works glued up.

And, even though it's not part of the build, I have done additional work on the shop to make it more usable...namely, insulating it from the the 105 heat index we have already endured this year. I have it down to a comfy 87 without A/C...it croaked!

Hi Chris,

Thanks! I'm really enjoying it. It does help me turn off the "noise" of day to day business. The more I get done, the more I want to do. But, now I think it's making my wife crazy.

I have the fretboard shaped to the neck, dot inlays done and the fretboard/inlays sanded to finished radius.

Well, it's official. It's a guitar!!!
I test fitted eveything last night, did a quick setup on the bridge and played it for the first time. The neck alignment is dead on, it intonated very easily with plenty of adjustment either direction and the truss rod is just snugged against the fretboard with a bit of tension on it.

If the acoustic sound is any indication, it's going to be sweet! It has a singing, mellow tone that I didn't expect. I'm guessing some of it will disappear when the finish goes on but there seems to be plenty to spare at this point. And, I still need to bring the neck profile down some more...it's a bit of Louisville Slugger right now.







I'm going to wire it up today and do a bit of work on the neck/frets. I'll be moving on to finish this week also...exciting!!! I'll also be adding more build shots to the TTP website.
