Which arbor is this?

Post by wgander »

I'm pretty sure this is for my Shopsmith (500 upgraded to 510), but don't know what it's for. The diameter of the shaft is 1/2": too small for molder head, shaper cutters, or dado set.

Do you have a grinder or buffer wheel? I have one like that for a pulley wheel for the sander I made.

That looks exactly like the arbor that came with my ShopSmith mount RingMaster.

No to the grinder/polisher.
Thanks, Mike: RingMaster. They got separated when I moved my tools; I try to keep things together.

I am Quite surprised it was a SS/Ringmaster standard issue! It looks like a "Craftsman catch all arbor" I purchased 40+ years ago! I drilled out the inboard hole and tapped it for 5/16-18 set screw(SS issue) and put the original set screws(both of them) in my misc. junk box. The original set screws were NOT 5/32 hex.
