set screw to tighten the saw blade on a 505

Hi everyone. I seem to be having a problem keeping the set screw for the saw blade tight. I find the screw becoming loose after using the table saw which causes the blade to move away from the motor housing at least a half inch which of course cuts the wood in the wrong spot. I have used the T-shaped allen wrench to tighten the screw as tight as i can but after using the saw I find I have to tighten it again. Is this a problem with the screw or have i got something wrong? The 505 is just a year old and ahs only a few hours use as I just finally got a space to use it in.

I had the same problem soon after I purchased my SS. I change out the set screw and have not had any troubles since. Make sure you use a soft metal set screw like SS sells.

Tightening technique matters. Are you BOTH rocking the saw to find the bottom of the flat on the shaft AND pushing the arbor ALL the way towards the headstock? Doing so puts the setscrew at the lowest point of the flat. It is tapered and is deeper nearer to the headstock. Any replacement setscrew should have a 'round/flat' bottom. It should NOT be cupped nor serrated.
I have never had a screw problem, but others on this forum have.
