Yes, I made a new convert to wood turning last night. I had my kids and their families over for dinner last night. My youngest son's wife wanted a pen, and she decided she wanted to try turning it herself. Brian had taken her to Rocklers and she picked out her own blank, so last night after dinner, Brian and I showed Kristina how to turn a pen. She did it all herself. Sorry for the quality of those shots, but they were impromtu taken with my son's iPhone, and yes I know she should have had eye protection... Anyway, Kristina chose a piece of Box Elder Burl wood that had been dyed purple, and here's the final result. You should have seen the grin on her face, she was SOME proud. The kids left last night with Kristina planning on what pens she could make for her father and her aunt and her brother and.....

Dusty, that's fine by me... There's no greater joy than when the kids come back home to spend time with me. I'll gladly share the ShopSmith.

Way to go, Tom! Just teach her the correct and safe way to enjoy her new found hobby. She will probably be turning bowls and such before you know it.

Thanks Beeg, but it's just one pen, took 2 shots of it, one with the cap closed one cap open, and cropped them and pasted them into the same background. Digital photography is cool...
