Do you suppose that given six employees were hired by the new company, Shopsmith will be open for business as usual on Monday morning? Further is it possible there were other reasons the web site and discussion sites were down for several hours. Actually I see this happen once or twice a week nearly every week. I always figured it has something to do with my being located so deeply in the central Virginia woods and the gremlins being unable to find my server:p fjimp

Once again Nick has proven to be a Shopsmith owners go to guy. Hard to thank him enough. As an admitted Shopsmith addict, I was looking forward to the new headstock with great anticipation.Probably would've bought one even though my 510 is humming along just fine. The recent events have tempered that enthusiasm somewhat. I knew that Shopsmith was under the gun in this tough economy, but the announcement of the new headstock gave me hope. With the reorganization, I'll wait and see. Hate to overspend on a new whiz bang head stock only to have the company dissolve when quarterly projections fall short. Originally I bought a Shopsmith because of the design and my limited space. The quality of the products and the support of the company kept me loyal to the brand. I hope this new incarnation of the company will justify that loyalty. I wish them success.

Now we know most of the story, I along with all the rest hope they are able to put something together to keep this great machine on the market. I have not bought a new one in years but continue to keep my two up and going not counting the 6 ER's I have. The new head stock sounds like something we could really use if the cost is not too far out. It would really be great if the slow speed would let us turn large pieces also. But the biggest plus is the top in for routing etc. Let's hope we always have a place to continue to trade ideas and friendship. Maybe that is the biggest thing SS has done for or given to each of us.
Keep the faith.
Also thanks Nick for letting us know.

I am breathing a huge sigh of relief, if somewhat trepidaciously. I wish the company all the best and will do all I can to help them. Like buying the new power unit, fer sure!

I purchased two shopsmith Mark V's one a 520 new and the other a 510 which I rescued from an owner that had no clue or use for the tool. I own all of their STP's and many other parts and supplies. I believe in Shopsmith as I do American business and ingenuity. I have the new heastock on my wish list. Oh heck it's on the must buy list. I hope to be one of the first to order it. You bet I will back Shopsmith new or old company. I pray we all get behind them and that the new headstock will be a marketing win win for all of us.

As to knowing most of facts. Somehow I doubt we know as much as we would like to believe. It likley doesn't matter but I want to believe we will soon hear another good announcement from our friends. fjimp
