I was looking around on eBay for a table top drill stand to convert to a fret press but then I thought, hey I already have a drill press with a locking quill!
With the addition of the Stew Mac fret press caul, I was able to do a very fast and comfortabe fret replacement. Pay no attention to the rusty drill chuck...it's the one I got with the Mark V...I didn't want to risk getting glue and solvent om my new one.
I set the fret wire in place, tapped the ends down into the slot, then drove it home with a fretting hammer. I added a bit of CA glue to the fret edge, then pressed in place with the Mark V quill. When I had the right amount of pressure, I locked off the quill and let the glue cure for a few minutes. Very nice results and ease of use...I love this machine!!!

I use one of mine this way too. The three spoke quill handle is a worthwhile addition.MT

I tried using the SS as a fret press when I first got it, but quickly realized that the table deflected waaay too much for any type of consistent results.
