Scroll Saw SPT Question...

Just obtained a nice, gently used new model scroll saw at a real nice price. Looking at the back half of the table, on each side close to the edges there is what seems to be a square hole or socket for an attachment of some kind. I've looked through the manual that came with the saw and can see no reference to these holes or what they are for. Anyone have any ideas?

This is a version of the table that facilitates placement of the mounting blocks that hold the blade. If your scroll saw has been upgraded...these holes now have no function. When used, you put these mounting blocks in the square holes with the blade resting in the long narrow depression. When you attach the blade to the mounting blocks, you have established proper separation of the mounting blocks --readied to be mounted on the scroll saw.
The quick change upgrade did away with the process.
As might be expected, I have all of the old parts. I'll dig them out and set one up to show you.

When you attach the blade to the mounting blocks, you have established proper separation of the mounting blocks --readied to be mounted on the scroll saw.

Dusty, thanks so much for the info. After you left your original response yesterday I went back to the owners manual that came with the saw to double-check and see if I missed something. There is nothing in the manual about that. In fact, in the section that talks about installing the blades it mentions and has drawings in the manual for a blade mounting fixture... go figure.

Wooden puzzles are a lot of fun. I used to make them for my nieces and nephews when they were small, and they always loved them.

I've never had the fixture but I've seen some pictures. It seems like all that was done is the fixture was incorporated into the scroll saw table top.
I'd bet that the procedures will work the same way on the table top.
