I get there and the nice lady takes be down to the basement and shows me an unused/not even completely assembled Mark V 510, power cord still zip tied and paper tags on the end of the cord and headstock. With it is a new Bandsaw and Joiner and the expanded table set. Nothing has ever been powered up or used! The serial numbers give a born on date in late October 2005. Additionally, there's a packing list for another $1700 in accessories purchased in 2005; Incra Miter Sled 5000, Biscuit Joiner, G3 NOVA Chuck, the list goes on and on...
I was speechless and quickly trying to do the math in my head for what this all cost, safe in the knowledge that there was no way I could afford what she would want for it. We had a pleasant chat about it and she told me what they had paid for it, told her I'd have to do some price checking and I'd call her back. I rushed back home and did my analysis as quickly as possible and called her back with an offer of all I could afford and not much hope of making a deal. Well, as my Dad always told me, if you have to pick between lucky and smart, pick lucky. She accepted my offer I landed the whole system for $1500. Needless to say I drove like a madman back to pick it up and I've been opening boxes and inventorying/assembling all day today.
I've run all the Item Numbers on the SS web site to bring them up to today's prices (which BTW, showed roughly a 28.9% increase in prices from late 2005 to today). All totaled, minus the Shipping and Taxes I think the value is about $7000. I'm still in shock. Now I need to get busy and sell my Mark V 500, the other half wants her side of the garage back.
