Wood Sources

Post by fjimp »

I often hear folks talk about the fantastic sources they find for wood. I my self have cut up felled trees for use in my shop. Recently I found myself desiring Cherry for turning. I found two split cherry logs in a friends firewood pile. Pleas see the picture of one of those split logs attached. I also included a picture of the neat pile of sixty pen blank and 6 blanks for turning fishing bats, all of which came from two small split cherry logs. Oh yeah and my friend was thrilled with the large pile of kindling I returned to him. Jim

Jim,

Looks like you're set for a while! I love small turnings too. In fact I just got an old Great Neck / Corsair hand-plane, and I'm planning to make new handles for it after I clean it up.
