Renewing a cedar closet...

A friend of my wife's told her that sanding the inside of a cedar closet would renew the aromatic cedar. Does anyone know if this is true? If so how much sanding is required? Sorry is this sounds dumb but not something I have ever encountered.

Thanks, BigEd

I do believe that's true BigEd. Ya need to sand it enough to refresh the surface. Hope ya have a belt sander.

Ed,
Yes sanding aromatic cedar will renew the aroma with just a little sanding. BUT WEAR A VERY GOOD DUST MASK, AROMATIC CEDAR IS TOXIC. Remove everything from the closet and vacume the dust up often. With that said the cedar is still doing its job as a insect deterrent even if you do not smell the aroma.

If it were mine I'd try hand sanding first. With a sanding block and 150 grit, followed by 220 grit. This should be enough. Yes, it will bring back the aroma.

Very light sanding has worked for me.
