The latest landing net

Here's the latest net I've made. This one is quarter-sawn sycamore hoop and handle with a mahogany "swoop" laminated in. It has three coats of spar varnish - I'll probably add two more. I am waiting for the net bags I ordered to arrive - then I will sew one on and it'll be done. These are alot of fun to make and my fishing pals really like 'em. Cheers, Alec

Alec - I really like the look of the net and creativity that you put into it. I've got an article from Wood Magazine somewhere that details how to make these. Once I get a band saw it's definitely on the project list.

GREAT JOB!!!

Makes me wish I had paid attention when my Dad use to tie and remake his own fishing nets. I have the bobbins or needles that he used but have no idea how it did it.
What a way to combine two arts if I could remember how.
Thanks for the memories.
