I am new to this forum so hopefully I post this message correctly. I am reconditioning a newer Shopsmith Bandsaw. How difficult is it to removing the lower wheel? Are there special tools necessary to do this? Thanks...

the lower wheel assembly is very easy to remove. there is a bolt and a retaining clamp on the inside. no special tools are needed. however other than replacing the tire and cleaning there is little else you can do. the shaft has a non replaceable bearing much like the one on the idler shaft.
