Weekly Blog - October 25th

Kind of a disappointing week.
First I broke the 1/2" blade I use for resawing on the bandsaw. I could have prevented this if I had a little more patience, but that is not the case. I was cutting a couple of pieces that my wife requested, and noticed the saw running really rough. Since I only had to make a measurement and a final cut, I decided to ignore the problem. Needless to say, while I was measuring, the blade gave up and broke at the weld. The bandsaw was out of alignment with the headstock. I think maybe because those two metal plates that are part of the eccentric tubes are getting tired after many years of almost constant sitting on the SS.
I picked up my jointer on Wednesday, but the main part is too heavy for me to move it from the garage to the basement. A call was put into my grandson for help, but between his school exams and other activities, I am still waiting. Most of the projects that I want to start require milling the wood I have waiting so I sort of came to a standstill.
Finally the light bulb went on and I found something I could start with only a little planing so I got to work on a harvest bin similar to the one I made a couple of years ago. That ought to keep me busy until I get help with moving the jointer.
Besides that, it is time to rake leaves and that will also keep me busy for the next couple of weeks.
