Just wanted to give a howdy and introduce my self. Got a killer deal (just a little more than the old lady said I could spend...lol) on a used shopsmith last week, just waiting till the temps out here in CO get to above freezing so I can spend some time in the garage playing around but for now I'm just trying to learn what I can from the owners manual and looking around for some better cabinet plans than I got.

You may already know about these but just in case. These would be great for making good use of those colds days. They are almost as good as making saw dust for real.

Hi, cthulhu187! Glad you got a good deal, and hope your wife is as happy! When I got mine, had to promise and produce some cabinets and furniture to lower the frequent teasing about the price.

Oh, my! You may have to wait a while until temps warm up at your house. Next thing might be a garage warmer of some type.

Poke around there to find lots of video info. Also search through the Shop Tips part of the Academy and this forum. There is a pretty good search function here i the Forum.

just remember to not turn the speed dial unless the SS is running and to be attentive to safety - doubly so when it is cold in the shop.

thanks for the sawdust link, I hadn't seen those yet. Hey Iclark, I have used this nickname for years on many forums and you are the first one to ever get the reference...("Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn,") I originally said I'd have to wait till it get above freezing... at this rate it would be nice if it got above zero.

HOWDY Logan. Welcome to the Forum where you can get a lot of good information. If you have looked around the forum you will see that Wood is not all we talk about.

Let me add my Welcome to those previous. It may be helpful for answering any future question if we knew which Shopsmith you acquired. Also Where in CO? Edit yer profile in 'User CP' to make it automatic and acessable.

Welcome from another newbie. I've had mine for almost a week now.

Where in CO are you? I'm in the Springs. Witch t*t cold here, too. Next purchase is a woodstove for the garage.
