Had to place an order today for a few parts. Not surprised some were on back order but was surprised at what would seem to be very basic parts were back ordered. Like a common spring. The only things in stock were a drive hub and the little bracket for the shop light.
I know it can very, but what seems to be the lead time on parts now. SS had no guess on a time line for the parts.

I've had back-ordered service items run about 4-6 weeks lately.
(Bigger SPT's, etc., can run quite a bit longer sometimes, as often reported on this forum.)

are not what we all want but I hope we all agree that we would rather have Shopsmith taking back orders than to have quit taking orders at all.
I happen to believe that their service records has been pretty darn good given the state of the economy and the financial condition that they were in a year ago.

I have to agree with Dusty SS is still here. I have the lathe duplicatior on back order and just hope they will fill the order. The only real disappointment I have ever had was Nick sawdust session. Had the set of six on order and they canceled the order. The was a bummer.

Some of the parts I ordered, Like the spring, can be had at the hardware store but just wanted to support SS even if it was an .80 part.
Just wanting to get an idea if to expect my parts in weeks or months.
As a side note I do think their shipping rates are kinda high. All the parts I ordered (6 in all) could be placed in a small padded envelope. Shipping and tax made my bill go from around $62 to $79

Well folks,
Good ole ShopSmith does it again. Just got an email today and my Lathe Duplicatore will be in on Monday. What do you say about that. I did not take too long in my opinion. I do have the one 65 degree cutter on back order but that is ok. So no matter what is said about them they are still delivering orders. Woopeeee!!!!. Now if the weater would just warm up enough to make a trip to the shop. I still have not installed heat out there yet. Next years budget I suppose. Here is another tid bit I have a tracking number on this order. Hmmmm I thought they stopped doing that to save money. New Year New Shopsmith??? Sure do hope this means they are turning around and making money again. Yaaaahooooo!!!!

I've not bought anything from Shopsmith in some time. Not their fault I have just not been doing much and I kind of stocked up ahead on some stuff when they still had the factory store open. I have a set of new belts for both types (gilmer and poly-vee. Just enough so if one goes down. I have also saved a few decent used belts (somewhere) off of some headstocks I took apart. I have enough SS's apart in the shed for about anything else. Even back when I was buying some stuff from them i usually bought it at the factory store. It was about 2 hours away and I had Ohio friends The we were visiting fairly often so that I was driving right by there about once a month anyway. I really enjoyed stopping in to shop and chatting with the guys working in there. I hope someday they can go back to the factory store. For now I will just be glad that they are still chugging along doing their best.

I must be ordering the right stuff. I've ordered different items from SS three different times now and they've all came complete within two weeks.

Same here...I've ordered a few things lately and had them show up within a couple weeks. 1 1/2 years ago though...I really had some problems on getting backordered parts. I'd like to see SS do well...
