Trucks for the boys

Finished making two trucks for the guys. At first I was going to put magnets at the end of the tow-trucks, but for now they are too young for the small magnets and the chain required. So if the trucks last I will add it as needed. Made the cab from a discarded headboard, cherry, same for the wheels. Some scrap poplar for the bed and maple for the boom. Lots of glue and dowels, no metal except for a fender washer under the boom. Couldn't decide how to mount the boom, finally used a 1/2 inch dowel and made a washer from 1/2 in ply to cap the dowel. All pieces cut on the SS. Used my son's old woodburning kit to make the windows.
As for the boys, they seem to like them, push them around and say "vrooom"
It was a fun day.

my dad help me make a bunch of trucks when i was younger im not sure but i think i might have them still around here
i sold off a lot of stuff when i moved to colorado from Iowa

Did u make the cab out of two pieces (top and bottom)? If not, how did you cut it flat like that??

The cab was constructed from 1" lumber recovered from a headboard. Two pieces were glued which made a shelf for the 3/4" truck bed to attach.

Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering that also. It looked like the cab was a solid block of wood. But now I see they were glued in an "L" shape for the truck bed.
