New to the forum as will new to ShopSmith. I considered purchasing a ShopSmith for a few years and finally made the plunge. Yesterday, I purchased off Craig's List a 2004 Anniversary 520. Over six hundred miles round trip, but it was well worth it! The 520 is in pristine shape. I have a few projects planned, first I am going to use the lathe to replace and shape a few pool cue tips. Will probably be asking some questions on compound miter cuts for some future projects.

Nice to have you, kdo21! How about updating your public profile and give the membership a little more info about yourself?

Welcome kdo21. Make sure your lathe chisels are really sharp. I ran into that problem trying to do some pens and candle sticks. If not sharp they will tear the wood and not cut it..

I recommend you copy this html file to your computer so that you can use it without actually being 'on ,line'.

Welcome, and come back often. You'll find that the 520 was well worth every one of those 600 miles.
Let us know what accessories came with it.
