New hello

I bought a 510 in 98 and hate to say it was put on the back burner of life! Now the kids are grown and gone it's time to get started again. But my first project will be to clean and wax everything. I found my alignment VCR tape and my friend converted it to DVD format for me. Makes it faster to forward to location. So if anyone has advice about caring for or cleaning any corrosion please let me know. I guess better late than never is my feeling on this one. I always figured I would get some time to do woodworking. And I'm glad to find this website. Lol I figure all you smart guys have figured out any fixes I need by now. Thanks for all your help

Welcome Larry. My story is the same except I got my Greenie in 1977, dismantled it, painted everything, replaced the motor bearings, put it together, played with it a bit and then let it sit. It's apart again now that I'm getting more serious about woodworking. Check out the SS videos for advice on lubrication and care, and have fun.

Welcome Larry:
I'll suggest that you invest in Nick Englers DVD's available on this site, especially "Critical Alignments for the Mark V". Also extremely helpful is a set of engineer's squares and/or a high quality combination square like the Starrett.
With your Shopsmith idle for some time, be sure to first oil the sheaves, finding the access holes as shown in the manual.

Welcome to the forum Larry. GOOD idea about cleaning and waxing the SS, but don't forget to lube it too.
I take exit 16 off of 285 to get to Mableton, to visit the 2 grand kids, oh and the Daughter to.
