I just got an E-mail from Rockler advertising a new tool called the pocket hole clamp. I don't know about you guys but it seems to solve many of the problems I have experienced when using pocket hole screws. check it out.

Doesn't that do the same thing as the Kreg "right angle" clamp? Rocklers is about $10.00 cheaper, too.

Seems to me that would be a simple tool to make yourself with only a block of wood, a t-nut, a dowel and a threaded rod. But then, I have been wrong before.

This one says $.99 I think it is suppose to be $99.00.
What do you think?

Maybe you can find a way to use one of the pocket hole covers. That way it will fit in the hole better than a dowel.

I have the mini kreg jig kit. What is the secret to setting the stop collar to the right hight? Sometimes I set it to high and the bit goes all the way thru the board. I don't see no ruler on it like the more expensive jigs do.

This looks like something I could have used when making the harvest bin. Lots of pocket hole joinry in that project and keeping pieces flat was a challenge.

Looks like it should go on my list of purchases for when I go to the cottage this summer and have a U.S. address.

I posted the same question on another forum. Others said they preferred the Kreg jig. It was much quicker to clamp on and off your work. The Rockler you have to screw and unscrew the adjustment each time. A big deal if you have a lot of pockets to do.

It is quick, but I only use it once per set of holes. Say I cut 5 holes, put the clamp in the middle one and screw the other 4.
Those screws really suck the pieces together.
