Just wanted to say hey from the GA lowcountry.
New here and of course registered to get some Mark V failure questions answered (posted in the maintenance forum). I've had my Mark V for maybe 8 years now with little use. Not until recently i've seriously started to use it for making guitars. Not a great guitar player, more of a hobbyist, but love to work with my hands. My pops gave this Mark V which he never used just aquired it from a church donation and he passed it on to me....lucky me! Grown to love this piece of machinery but feel nervous sometimes using it, especially the table saw and how the blade attaches, just boggles my mind that a little set screw is all that is holding it back. So far i've used the table saw, bandsaw, jointer/shaper, belt sander and the jigsaw. I think i used the lathe early on but memory won't allow me to remember past a couple of years . With this recent bearing failure, it has really come to realization how maintenance is key to a purring shopsmith.

Hi Zender! Welcome aboard!:D I'm sure the "maintenance guys" will be able to help you along. Some of the Forum members are better on machine maintenance/repair, some are better on turning, some are better......(on other stuff)

I'm always amazed at the wide variety of skills and knowledge the members of this forum possess!

Nice work! but what's the horse power...no really, how many horses does it take to power that thing hehe

I'll be sure to put my guitar in my avatar when its finished. I'm documenting the process in another thread so i'll be sure to link that as well.

Hey Mike - Is it a requirement that the avatar be the member's work, or is that just an accepted norm?
