ss jointer

bought a used,fairly new great shape. put jointer together last night working on alignment. but sorta worried . set infeed table in slot . have the hex nut lose enough to adjust, but don't seem to sit right do i adjust to deep of cut and tighten down on hex nut.that way in can make sure my infeed table in true to outfeed side sort baffled. great appreciat some kindly advice thanks papahammer
