cleaning unit

my shopsmith has been in storage for over 7 years and the pipes that the stock head moves on has become crusted. I have tryed to use steal wood and mothers was and it does not help. any Ides of how to regain the finish?

I suggest you try Empire Tool Saver. I've had good luck with this product but not in your specific application. It's easy and safe to use. Here's a link to one vendor who carries the Empire line but I'm sure you can find more.

rusts cleaning

have you used that empire supplies before? if so will it clean the rust from the rails that run the stockhead?

Just an FYI. It is a head stock, not stockhead, and the rails it moves on are way tubes. :)
