exercise machine tubes are usable on SS510

I was given a rowing style exercise machine which I disassembled to make part of a "racing computer game cockpit" and the two tubes that the machine's seat moved back and forth on were surplus. They are nicely chromed steel tubes about 33" long, 1.004" in diameter (my SS510 table joining tubes are 1.000" dia.) and have black plastic plugs finishing their ends. I sanded the plugs so they do not protrude beyond the edge of the pipe. A couple of pictures are attached. They seem to work just fine to support floating tables on my 510. Might be worth keeping a lookout for a rowing machine at yardsales.

Nice tip, Peter! Now all we have to do is carry around a micrometer to garage sales.

or a small tape measure to measure the circumference

Maybe it would reduce the search area if we knew what brand exercise machine uses these tubes.

Vernier calipers are adequate!:D
Or in this case a 1" open end wrench.

I took the rower apart months ago but believe it was a
Healthware Tech 0183 (at least, that is printed on the air pistons still in my junk). It looked somewhat like the picture except no bolt hole in the middle of the tubes.
Better carry your micrometer.......good hunting
