Disk sander / conical dust collection - How's it done??

Curious to know how you guys manage dust collection with the 12" flat or conical disk. Is there a 12"+ guard that surrounds it that the vacuum attaches to?

With a broom, compressed air and dust pan - after the fact.
This is the same, in my shop, for almost all of the sanding jobs that I perform. This is probably not what you wanted or expected to hear but I seldom bother with dust collection during sanding.
Most of the time, I do machine sanding using the Crafter's Station as the power base and I simply set it up outside (in a shady spot) and let the desert breezes take it away as I develop it (sanding dust that is).
With the belt sander, things are a bit different. It is set up right inside the wide overhead door. That helps some but the dust collector is right there and can be hooked up if I am involved in a heavy sanding job.
I hate to hand sand so I do use the powered sanding capabilities as much as possible.

This dust chute is a stripped down version of the lower saw guard for the 505/510/520. The lower saw guards can often be bought for not much more than a song on feebay. The dust chutes that jpg has linked seem to sell for more on that same site. 
BTW, I will modify your 505/510/520 lower saw guard and convert it to a disc sander dust chute for a nominal fee.

I'm confused, Rob. JPG's link gives me what looks like a complete lower saw guard and dust chute for a 500 which doesn't appear to be all that different than a 510 lower saw guard.
What am I missing AND
if I wanted to take you up on your offer, what would you provide?

For the Flat Sanding Disk, that dust-collector lower-shield in my opinion works great. Most of the dust falls off the edge of the worktable into the collector.
For the Conical Disk, I'm not sure what my last experience was. But given that most of the sanding "action" is up in the air above the table, the dust-collection may not be quite so good. Opinions anyone?

I've used the lower saw guard on my 510 on both flat and conical disk. Not used every time however.
When used, dust collection is improved and free floating dust is decreased. How much is the flying dust cut down? My memory is way more than half! Maybe 70 to 80%

Dusty: Remember a recent discussion by Vzandt as he attempted to go the opposite direction(create a lower saw guard from a dust chute). Recall the thickness of the casting where the roll(tension) pins were inserted for alignment of the upper guard?
Notice the 'thiness' at that location on the ss link pix. Recall your own pix of the same area.
In addition to the 'milled' down area mentioned above, a part of the web in the bottom of the lower guard is also removed so as to provide clearance for the larger disk.
These differences were apparent in Reable's earlier thread, but we all did not notice those 'differences' at that time.
P.S. Notice Rob said he could modify
YOUR 505---520 lower guard.

Don't complicate this discussion. We are attempting to accomplish "Dust Collection" while using the sanding disc. In the referenced thread, the initial object was to install an upper saw guard into the lower assembly from a 500 dust collector.
