Positive Resources!

I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for all the positive resources available to all of us from this forum, website, and from the ShopSmith Company.
Yesterday afternoon, I went about setting up my ShopSmith to turn some pens and to my dismay, discovered that my quill was very hard, almost impossible, to extend, and retract.
This situation tossed me for a loop! Simply because I make a conscious effort to clean, and lube my ShopSmith very frequently. After checking everything, I could not determine what the problem was, and was getting worried that my quill spring had broken, that I would be down for several days, etc. I only knew that two days ago, my quill was working properly. This came out of no where!
It was time to ponder the situation more, and come up with a plan of action.
My plan was simple.......check this forum (threads) for information on similar problems, from there pull out the Rick Davis and Nick Engler DVD's for more information, and the "How to do it!"
With the information from all of the above, I proceeded to remove all the related parts, ie.....quill, quill spring, etc. and clean/wax everything that I could and put everything back together.
Once back together, my quill now works like it should! What was wrong? The only thing that I can say is that I removed a little grime/dirt, here and there, from parts that can only be reached/serviced from disassembly, and not from the normal cleaning and lube procedures.
The bottom line is that without this forum, members such as Bill Mayo and Dusty to name a couple, and the other "resources", I would have been stuck!
Once again,......name another Company that sticks by their product, in more ways than one!:D
