Tell us more re the motor.

1) Is it dual shafted(one on each end)?

2) Is it electrically reversible?

A yes to either question will make the 'fix' obvious.

A no to both questions, brings us back to where we started(need more info).

i changed the wires around did not help.

Most 1/2 & 3/4 HP motors sold today are reversible. If more than 2 wires are visable in the end plate, it should be easy to reverse. How many different color wires do you see inside the end housing? Any pictures available of the wires inside the end housing and/or the motor information name tag?

I thought I had that problem with my 10E and I looked closer and realized someone had added a handy little reversing switch. Not really sure where down-milling will come into play on this thing, but it will be handy for sanding on the lathe I guess. Anyone else seen this on their 10E/ER?

I've heard of reversing the motor intentionally so that an accessory, like the bandsaw, could be run off the quill end of the headstock instead of the pulley end. However, I've never actually seen it done...
