It really verys with the wood and subject. This one I have about 18 hours in it.

I agree very nice work. I am trying to teach myself to carve. I guess even when you get nice knifes etc it did not help the lack of talent LOL
So I am still trying.

It looks entirely different painted. I like the unpainted pix. I think you can see and appreciate the skill of the carver better when not altered. JMHO

All I can tell you is that I made a lot of nice looking fire wood in the early days of my carving. It helps alot to get with a carving club or group.
