I'm stuck. I can't get one of the way tubes out of the base mount. I can spin it around but it only comes out 1/8". I've tried a pipe wrench, but am scarring the way tube. I've been using pb blaster since last night. Could it be a burr from the threaded screw hole? Any suggestions?

can you hit one end with a rubber mallet or block of wood and small hand sledge. Just to move it one way and then push it back and hit again and back and maybe then you will advance enough for it to come out or the pb blaster to slide in.

The setscrew is removed(is it not?).
This can be a problem if the setscrew has scored the way tube.
Any twisting will create a scored surface on the base casting, thus aggravating an already difficult situation.
You may need to reduce the burr through the set screw hole. Tain't easy. Either an abrasive sleeve or a 'metal working burr'.
thanks guys

yes the set screw is out. I think you are right, it must be a burr from the set screw. I'll get it out somehow. Virtually no experience with metal working.
I'll be using that rubber mallett and maybe I'll get lucky.
thanks again

another thought would be since it moves a friction, rubber mallet on side
get a piece of pvc pipe and put that in the other side where you got a little space and hit and then back to the pipe end and back to the pvc.
back and forth, back and forth

He is dealing with a blind hole. There is no access to the 'other end'!
