a mini and shorty question

I am looking for the "right deal" to buy another Mark V

I want to make a mini so I can put a bandsaw and a belt sander on it.

I have a shot of 2 of Bill Mayo's shorten SS

while I don't plan to use a saw or a disk sander or a table with this new "mini" it certainly looks like if I was to build a mini, a carriage wouldn't not get in the way of the quill extending out to meet the belt sander (on the right side).

am I missing something?

With a carriage on the MINI, you do not have room for the coupler to power any SPT on the left (accessory) side. I found the shortest with a carriage was around 30" way tubes. To use the belt sander on the quill side with the carriage, the SHORTY (34" way tubes) was the shortest where I could use other SPTs on the accessory side. Good luck with whatever you decide to use.
