I am new to the forum, but have been using shop smith for over 20 years. I am on my second recycled machine. One of my bandsaw tires blew out, so I purchased 2 new ones - glue in rubber. I have made two attempts to glue them in, but each time they do not hold. I am in the middle of a project and really need to get this working. Is contact cement that was sent with the tires the best adhesive or is there something better. I cleaned the wheels good with a wire wheel before applying. the second attempt lasted a bit longer. I was able to resaw about 6 strips of ash, but I am dead in the water till I can figure out how to get the tires to stay on.

I use a 3M spray ashesive (believe 77) as I had no luck using the contact cement to hold the tires and the contact cement left clumps under the tires. I insert a 1/2" dowel under the tire and sprayed the wheel and tire behind the dowel as I roll it around the wheel. Also I find higher speeds tends to make the tire(s) come off the wheel so I stay in the A-C range and go slow when resawing.
