Hopefully everyone is just busy for the summer. I know most of you know way more than be about SS but right now I am working on a MKVll I just picked up and is in great shape. I am hoping sometime to take my 510 and get the new power pro for it. I am looking for a larger lathe and this would solve more than one problem for me. I also have a 520 with a saw train set up and just learning how to use the sawtrain. Right now I have to finish a baby cradle for daughter 6 and my new 6th grandchild due in September so time is getting short. Hope to get more involved this year than in the past. Still have three more ER's to bring back to life and get to someone that wants to get into woodworking and SS
Anyway 105 degrees outside doesn't make shop work too much fun right now.

Life has a way of interfering with routines. Hopefully, all are in good health and just busy with other activities.

Been busy working on a barn and lots for 5 horses that are coming here to live (and hopefully their owners pay rent) Sunday. I had planned for two but another couple are moving their 3 horses here from the same barn south east of here. Both couples live south west of me. Moving here will save them each about 20 to 25 miles of driving a day. They live quite near to each other and do a lot together. I am located directly between where they live and work. They liked where they were OK, just not the extra driving. I hope to be able to take on about 5 more by winter. I need something, my wallet has become somewhat of a "money free" zone recently.
All of the email list and most of the forums I am active on or own have about all gone almost silent.
Craigslist has slowed down some here as well. I have been selling off much of my old farm equipment since I retired and am now selling my John Deere 4020. It is good and I am selling it cheaply but interest is not as heavy on anything as it usually is. I did sell a hay-conditioner this morning but the buyer and I about created a flood from the sweat while loading it, and it was an easy load.
I will be glad to see this hot zone move on, my wife can hardly keep up with the laundry from me changing clothes all day...

I'm in full agreement with the old argument - "It's not the temperature - it's the Humidity!" Stay well and keep hydrated! As we age, the hotter days are harder to take!:eek:

When our local wildfire was going on last week, the humidity was well down into the single digits. Even at temps over 100 one can still stand to be outside in these conditions- as long as there is shade!

I remember the days in Arkansas, Okla. and Texas, but not always fondly when considering humidities.

You're complaining about 96 degrees?? I'd love if we had a "cool front" come through to bring it down to 96. We've been hitting 104-106 the last few days here. Heat index of 115 or so. And don't even talk to me about humidity! I lived in Virginia/DC for a year and when I first got there and people found out I was new to the area, they kept asking "how do you like this heat and humidity?" The first couple times I thought they were being sarcastic because I found it rather dry and pleasant.

I moved to Wisconsin because it was always nice and moderate, weatherwise. Until this year the air conditioner ran a week out of the year. After 3 straight months of air requirements, Canada is looking better all the time.

My recollection of Wisconsin during the '40's was that I definitely learned to sweat!;) And bundle up during the short days.

Ha ha, I just saw this thread.
I did go to culinary school in Coos bay Oregon. I've been working here in Northern Ca since graduation and have been cooking at one of the better restaurants in our area for the last year.
I'm tinkering with wood again and an occasional lurker/reader.
This summer's agenda includes finally setting up the sawtrain to my 520... I'm hoping there won't be issues since Jointech hasn't been around for a while. (I did just receive an email from them though.) I'm getting into hand tools and following Paul Sellers' series "Working Wood".
Whole house renovation going on, splitting time between two homes on a weekly basis and now two yards to mow, I'm a busy boy again.
It is always good to see names and post from many of the members who helped me sort out the world of Shopsmith when I bought my first Mark V.
