Is there an easy way to tell if my new used 500 has a 2-bearing quill in it or not they are on sale right now on the web.

Don't be sorry too quickly! I see you bought a used 500 on E-bay. Normally this would have a single bearing quill, but maybe the previous owner(s) up dated it. Did you remove the quill and check for yourself?

Charlese,
No not yet I'm using my SS and learning. And don't want to tear into it yet as I'm starting to have fun making sawdust.

That's great! Just didn't want to see you order up a two bearing quill, if you didn't need one. Keep up the use and learning!
