I am wondering if anyone else has one of the "kit" (buy the plans and parts and build it yourself) bandsaws. I have one (not built by me) that seems to be very well made but I am curious about maintenance. It runs true and quiet (used it tongiht to rip some boards for a new worktable and it ran fantastic).

I just picked this up a week ago, it is a greenie. I have two more sitting back home (to expensive to move right now from AZ to PA) and am very familiar with the shopsmith in general (rebuilt both of the ones I have in AZ).

I will try and get some pics of the bandsaw to post. Hopefully someone out there has one of these that used some of the same parts and can throw me a bone on what will fail first. I would like to keep it going as long as possible as it runs VERY well.

Whatsa 'kit bandsaw'? Pix definitely needed!!! It came with a greenie?

I used to have their lathe/drill press and table saw kit built tools....not bad tools either.

This web site should have a caution because you get lost for hours. The band saw is great but also look at his tenon jig, finger joint jig and his slot mortising machine.

I got one of these with a greenie I bought. Works pretty good although I need to do some stabilizing work on it.

I second the motion. I was just thinking this weekend that I needed a bandsaw. I've read several user comments and webpages in the past about those kit bandsaw kits that Gilliam made and everyone seemed to be very pleased with them.

Not only are his machines interesting but check out his marble machines also... an jenga pistol, and crossbow, and homemade table saw, his dad's shop, etc., etc., etc...
